Richard Garnett (1835–1906) was an English scholar, librarian, and author who served for many years as a senior official at the British Museum, where he eventually became Keeper of Printed Books. A respected literary figure, Garnett wrote widely on literature, history, and biography, and was also known for his imaginative writings and essays. His work helped shape modern library cataloging practices, and he played a significant role in expanding the British Museum’s renowned literary collections during the late nineteenth century.
