Sepia tone photograph on studio mount depicting a bust portrait of the French aviator, INSCRIBED by Bleriot to the artist, Oscar Cesare. Image, 9 x 6 ¾”; overall, 14 x 10 ½”. Louis Bleriot was a French aviator, and the first man to fly across the English channel in 1909. Blériot was also the first to use the combination of hand-operated joystick and foot-operated rudder control as used to the present day to operate the aircraft control surfaces.
