Apolion Cheney, Seward acknowledges a previous letter and expresses gratitude for Cheney’s involvement in an unspecified matter. In full: “I have received your kind letter of the 25th of June, and I beg to thank you for the interest you have expressed in the matters therein discussed.” Boldly signed “William H. Seward” at the conclusion. A fine Civil War-dated letter from Lincoln’s influential Secretary of State. Light soiling and handling wear; in fine condition.
