Judith Resnik and Joseph P. Allen signed Space Shuttle solid rocket booster qualification cover. Commemorative postal cover marking the “3rd and Final Shuttle Solid Rocket Booster Qualification Firing — Feb. 13, 1980,” postmarked Brigham City, Utah, the site of Thiokol’s critical SRB ground testing program. The illustrated cachet depicts the Shuttle orbiter and a dramatic booster test firing scene, accompanied by the printed Shuttle Project Office statement expressing confidence that the SRB rockets would “perform successfully in flight.”

Boldly signed in ink by Judith Resnik, Mission Specialist on STS-41-D and STS-51-L, who tragically perished in the 1986 Challenger disaster, and Joseph P. Allen, veteran of STS-5 and STS-51-A, the latter mission famously retrieving two stranded communications satellites in orbit.
