Sepia-toned photograph of Harry Carey (1875–1947), one of Hollywood’s earliest and most iconic Western stars, shown in rugged cowboy attire and holding a revolver. The photo bears an inscription and signature on the front, with a full autograph note signed on the reverse. Carey writes:
"Dear friend / I’m very sorry to say that all the dogs are gone, but I am keeping your address and will let you know when there are more. / Sincerely yours / Harry Carey"
Henry Carey (January 16, 1878 – September 21, 1947) was an American actor and one of silent film's earliest superstars, usually cast as a Western hero. One of his best-known performances is as the president of the United States Senate in the drama film Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
