A striking 8.5" x 14" display featuring two autographs of the legendary Italian tenor Enrico Caruso. A spectacular original ink sketch, a self-portrait caricature signed “Caruso,” and created by him. At right is a printed photograph of Caruso in costume as Enzo Grimaldo in La Gioconda. The upper portion features a signed and inscribed postcard depicting Girard College in Philadelphia, entirely in Caruso’s hand in Italian and signed at the close. The pieces are adhered to a mat.
The display shows scattered surface marks, with some age-related soiling and small edge losses.
Enrico Caruso (25 February 1873 – 2 August 1921) was an Italian operatic tenor, who sang to great acclaim at the major opera houses of Europe and the Americas, appearing in a wide variety of roles that ranged from the lyric to the dramatic. Generally recognized as the first international recording star, Caruso made around 250 commercially released recordings from 1902 to 1920.
