Limited edition, No. 345 of 1001 copies. Inscribed and signed, “Edith Bolling Wilson,” with additional inscription noting, “Inscribed by request by Robert Lee Humber.” Signed at the limitation statement. Robert Lee Humber (1898–1970) was a prominent North Carolina lawyer, internationalist, and noted advocate for the arts. Edith Bolling Galt Wilson, second wife of President Woodrow Wilson, served as First Lady of the United States from 1915 to 1921. Following President Wilson’s debilitating stroke in 1919, she famously reviewed official matters and determined which required the President’s attention , a role that has led some historians to characterize her as effectively carrying out executive responsibilities during his incapacity. Condition: Covers shows toning and staining, and issues fair condition . Interior remains in good condition overall, with light toning to some pages, otherwise well preserved.
