Fine autograph letter signed “Andy,” dated November 18, 1953, written from Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, to Mr. Ward Stein at Vanderbilt University. Wyeth warmly thanks his correspondent for their interest in his work, calling it “a very heart-warming experience.” He provides instructions for visiting his dealer, directing him to “ask for Mr. [Robert] Kerr and let him know what kind of pictures you are interested in.” Wyeth closes with kind wishes that his correspondent and Peggy might be able to visit him in Chadds Ford, signing simply “Andy.”
Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed in Wyeth’s hand and postmarked from Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, November 18, 1953. A wonderful example of Wyeth’s early correspondence, offering a glimpse into his personal warmth and professional relationships during the early 1950s.
