Lyons collection consist of (3) Presidential Appointments; for the future admiral and numerous commendation letters and communications that Lyon’s received over his career, more than 25 pieces in total. The Presidential Appointments Commission to Rank of Ensign, March 1868, Signed by Gideon Welles, Sec. Navy and tamped signature of Andrew Johnson; Appointment to Rank of Master, March 1869, signed by Ulysses S. Grant; Commission to Rank of Captain, April 1900, Signed by Mckinley: (16) US Naval Orders ranging from May 1895 to Sept 1907: US Naval Court Martial Papers regarding the 1867 loss of the USS 'Sacramento' in China and the 1891 grounding of the tug 'Triana' Rear Admiral Lyon Commendation Letters, inc. 1st class Order of St. Olaf, French Legion of Honor, etc. Rear-Admiral Henry Ware Lyon retired in 1907. Some have been folded, brittle, some edge rippling, most in fine condition
