Confederate general (1821-1877) who earned a reputation as the greatest cavalry officer of the Civil War. Self-contained partial DS, signed “N.B. Forrest,” one page, 8 x 3.5, September 1, 1869. A guarantee for the payment of the principal and interest of a bond from the Selma, Marion, and Memphis Railroad Company payable in gold coin. Matted and framed with two portraits of Forrest, to an overall size of 22.25 x 10.5.
