Thomas Edison Signed Document. A one-page typed document, 8" x 11", dated 1920, authorizing payments to Thomas A. Edison for laboratory experimental work on diamonds. Boldly signed “Thos. A. Edison” at the conclusion, along with several other Edison Associates, including Charles Edison. The page is numbered “183” at the top right and details corporate authorization of up to $35,000 in reimbursements for work performed through the end of that year. Handsomely matted and framed alongside a period image of Edison seated beside a phonograph cabinet.
Overall framed dimensions measure approximately 17" x 31". Light toning to the document with minor age spots and wear consistent with age, but overall fine condition
Thomas Edison (February 11, 1847 – October 18, 1931) was an American inventor and businessman. He developed many devices in fields such as electric power generation, mass communication, sound recording, and motion pictures. These inventions, which include the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and early versions of the electric light bulb, have had a widespread impact on the modern industrialized world. He was one of the first inventors to apply the principles of organized science and teamwork to the process of invention, working with many researchers and employees. He established the first industrial research laboratory.
