A single-page provision relating to payment regarding acontract between The Caddo Company, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Howard Hawks, signed by Hughes, Louis B. Mayer and Hawks; This is an addendum dated July 12, 1932 in which Hawks was "loaned" to Howard Hughes Company "Caddo" as a Director of Motion Pictures for a period of two years beginning July 13, 1932. This addendum refers arguably the most famous movie produced by Hughes "Scarface".
"With reference to that certain agreement between the undersigned, THE CADDO COMPANY INC., herinafter referred to as "Caddo,", METRO GOLDWYN_MAYER CORPORATION hereinafter referred to as "Metro", and HOWARD W. HAWKS, hereinafter referred to as "Hawks", executed concurrently herewith, this is to confirm the understanding and agreement between said parties that not withstanding anything contained in said agreement, if Metro shall have paid Caddo any of the compensation by it to be paid to Caddo under said contract, and if Hawks shall not have been in default under said agreement, and if Caddo shall have failed to pay said compensation to Hawks for a period of seven (7) days after written demand therefor, then on written notice from Hawks to Metro of such demand and failure to pay, Metro shall thereafter, unless Caddo shall furnish satisfactory evidence that such sums have been paid in accordance with said demand, pay directly to Hawks all compensation thereafter accruing for Hawks' services under said contract, and Caddo in such event expressly authorized the payment of such compensation directly by Metro to Hawks as aforesaid, and agrees that such payment shall not in any way constitute a default by Metro in the performance of any of its obligations under said agreement.
