Scalloped-top ship's passport of the Bark Peytona of Boston. An uncommon document by Polk and Buchanan. Scalloped-top ship's pass issued to the Bark Peytona of Boston master or commander…To pass with her Company, Passengers, Goods, and Merchandize, without any hindrance, seizure or molestation." Signed at the conclusion by President Polk and countersigned by Secretary of State James Buchanan. The crisply embossed white paper seal affixed to the lower left remains fully intact. In very good to fine condition, with soiling, light staining, and some fold lines. An attractive format that boasts fine writing and signatures.
