This is an unusual document in which it refers to a "Negroe Polly". This last will and testament is in regards to a “Certain Negro Woman the name of Polly”. Polly was lent to Thomas Gofs until his death. Then to William and Nancy Mangum for the rest her life, who is relinquishing Polly to Elyzebeth Lyon, except for “Poly’s daughter by the name of Diner she being the only child of Polly” County of Granville state of North Carolina dated April 2, 1840.
