Paul Belloni Du Chaillu (July 31, 1831 – April 29, 1903) was a French-American traveler, zoologist, and anthropologist. He became famous in the 1860s as the first modern European outsider to confirm the existence of gorillas, and later the Pygmy people of central Africa. He later researched the prehistory of Scandinavia. The land of the midnight sun: Summer and winter journeys through Sweden, Norway, Lapland and northern Finland By Paul B. Du Chaillu. George Kennan (February 16, 1845 – May 10, 1924) was an American explorer noted for his travels in the Kamchatka and Caucasus regions of the Russian Empire. He was a cousin twice removed of the American diplomat and historian George F. Kennan, whose birthday he shared. Signed album page "George Kennan"
Adolphus Washington Greely FRSGS (March 27, 1844 – October 20, 1935) was a United States Army officer and polar explorer. He attained the rank of major general and was a recipient of the Medal of Honor. Signed Album page "A. W. Greely U.s.army Comdg. Polar Explorer. Aug. USN. Portsmouth NH."
