TRUMAN, HARRY. TLS on White House letterhead dated December 14, 1950 to Mr. John Ranson referring to the attempted assassination attempt by Puerto Rican nationalists at Blair House where Truman was living during White House renovation. Ranson was a retired Air Force officer and apparently an old friend from Kansas City. Wonderful content. “I am enclosing a copy of a memorandum which I have just received from my Air Aide. It looks as if everything ia all fixed up. I wish I had your place and you had mine.” (perhaps regarding his retirement from the Air Force). “I appreciated what you had to say about the fellows who tried to shoot me. They didn’t have any luck but one fellow got killed and two of my good men got wounded.” With a newspaper clipping about the event and a Sebring print of Truman’s Independence Missouri home.
