ROOSEVELT, ELEANOR. FDR’s First Lady. TLS on White House letterhead dated February 15, 1941, to Basil O’Connor. “I would appreciate it very much if you would ask the head of the Infantile Paralysis Fund Committee in Charlottesville, Virginia, to look up this person and see what might be done for her. If you will ask him to send a report direct to me, I will do what I can to help.” O’Connor had been FDR’s law partner and raised large sums to fight polio.
