World-champion Cuban chess player (1888–1942) is considered one of the greatest of all time. ALS in French and English, to his wife signed “Capa,” the letter is on Hotel Packard Habana Cuba stationary, One page,8.25 "11" June 14, 1940. written while traveling in Berlin Germany as a representative of the Cuban De Legation. Untranslated letter to his wife in New York, regarding matters of finances and traveling. In very good to fine condition. Also with an original signed envelope from 1941all in his hand with his full signature twice on the front, once in the address where he sending it to Mrs. J. R. Cabablanca" and in the lower bottom from "J. R. Capablanca" underneath Union Club Habana".
José Raúl Capablanca y Graupera (19 November 1888 – 8 March 1942) was a Cuban chess player who was world chess champion from 1921 to 1927. A chess prodigy, he is considered by many one of the greatest players of all time, widely renowned for his exceptional endgame skill and speed of play.
