(1879-1962). Canadian-born Arctic explorer and anthropologist. He authored several books on his experiences and findings, including My Life with the Eskimo (1912). Early ISP, b/w silver print format, image 8¾"x5", overall 6½"x9½". Darkly inscribed and signed twice on photographer's mat beneath image. He signs at center beneath image in "December 1921" At the bottom he inscribes "Dear Professor Russell, I am a geograph rather than a historian, so I am going rather by my province , when i suggest although the school geography is at present our most widley read work of fiction, the school of history runs a pretty close second.
