ALS from former Civil War Confederate General P.G.T.Beauegard date-line New Orleans June 20, 1888 to a Mr. J.H.(?) of Norwich Connecticut. in reference of a commemoration of the First Bull Run(The battle of Manassas) In full:  Dear Sir your favor of the 17th has been received I think quite favorably of the prospect you refer to have a commission to the battlefield of the 1st Manassas by both armies, North & South. Who participated in that first great battle of the late war. Should my arrangements permit I would be glad to be present on that interesting occasion *July 21 , 1889

I have not time to give you many names of those who were there present in that battle but here are a few.

General Jos. E Johnson, Washington DC, Wade Hampton US senator, MC Butler, L Bonham.. Columbia South Carolina, JB Kershaw, G.W. Smith, Thos. Jordan Broadway, Colonel A. K. Chisholm Governor, F.J. Nichols Baton Rouge, Colonel DB Penn New Orleans, General D.M. Emery Supreme Court, KB Kelley Court of appeals.
