On 9 May 1926 Admiral Richard Byrd made history piloting the Josephine Ford plane over the North Pole. This very special signed edition of ''Skyward'' is one of only 500 printed and comes with fragments of aviation cloth from the Josephine Ford mounted to the front endpaper. . This copy, numbered 79 of 500, is signed ''R E Byrd'' upon the limitation page. Published by G.P. Putnam's Sons: New York: 1928. The book also has extra photographic plates, not in the trade edition. 9 1/2 x 6 3/8 inches (24 x 16 cm); xvi, 348 pp.; plates, map. Small stain to foot of front board;
