Signed Check and inscribed check, October 31, 1921. Author, 1875-1939, he earned a degree in dentistry in 1896. He began practice in New York City but was more interested in writing and published his first book in 1904. It was his westerns that brought him fame as one of the most popular authors of the Twentieth Century; packed with action and adventure. His books were a profound influence on subsequent popular treatments of the West in literature and movies and on television. Cancellation barely comes close to signature.
