CHURCHILL, Sir Winston Spencer (1874-1965). Document signed ('W.S. Churchill') as Home Secretary, London, 12 May 1910, a certificate of naturalization as a British subject for the Italian born Giovanni Berni a printed and manuscript certificate, one leaf, folio. These applications were then signed off personally by the Secretary of State for the Home Office, a role to which Churchill was promoted in 1910.At just 35 years old, he was the second-youngest politician in British history to ever hold the position.
