36th president of the U.S. LS dated Feb. 18, 1934 on letterhead of Congressman R.M. Kleberg of Texas. This is an uncommon example from the very early stage of LBJ’s political career. At the time of this letter, he was serving as Secretary to Kleberg, in effect running his office. This letter, to Hon. Saint John Garwood, encloses material relating to the National Labor Board. The enclosures, which are present, consist of a letter from the Dept. of Labor to Kleberg and a printed copy of an Executive Order “Continuance of the National Labor Board, Etc.” LBJ would not become a Congressman until 1937.
