DS. 1pp. 12" x 8 1/4". New York. February 8th, 1862. An "American Express Company" stock certificate signed by Henry Wells as President and William Fargo as Secretary. Issued to John Butterfield of (Butterfield Overland Stage Company fame and help found the American Express company) who endorsed the back. It is for two shares. Rare to have all three signed on one stock. There is some toning to parts of the left side and throughout, but the signatures are dark and the overall condition is fine
