Cabinet card 4.25" x 6.5", no date (circa 1880s), Baker's Art Gallery, Columbus, Ohio. Young Ms. Oakley sits upright while holding a double-barrel shotgun with her gloved right hand. She has neatly and boldly signed immediately below the photograph" Compliments of Annie Oakley". Oakley joined Buffalo Bill's Wild West show in 1885.Her legendary shooting skills as a markswoman earned her worldwide renown. At the tender age of 15, she bested vaudeville marksman Frank E. Butler in a shooting match; the two were later married and toured together as star attractions in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show. There are some major condition issues with the upper right portion of the cabinet card photo which has been restored, although still missing that entire area of the original cabinet card. The signature is bold and the lower 75% is all original. These cabinet cards are quite scarce and signed photos of Oakley are very few.
