Ethan Allen (1738-1789). Cut signature, “Humble Sevt Ethan Allen”. Matted and framed with small engraving depicting The Capture of Fort Ticonderoga. Provenance: Charles Hamilton, with his wax seal on the backing of the frame. Allen a Revolutionary War patriot, noted for his seizure along with the Boys of Fort Ticonderoga May 1775. He failed to capture Montreal and was himself imprisoned and later released in 1778.Ethan Allen material is quite scarce and quite valuable, his letters can go for over $20,000.
