Original hand written and signed quotation in full: " Alas for the loved one too spotless and fair the joys of his banquet to chasten and share,Her eye lost its light that her goblet might shine and the rose of her cheek was dissolved in her wine.
Oliver Wendell Holmes February 6th 1892" Accompanied with an original cabinet card photo and engraving. The quotation does have a tape repair in the upper right corner, otherwise in good condition.
