World-champion Cuban chess player (1888–1942) considered one of the greatest of all time. ALS in French, to his wife signed “Raul,” on Union Club in Havana stationery and accompanied with original transmittal envelope all in his hand, with his additional full signature on the front of the envelope J. R. Capablanca. One page,5"x7" May 14, 1938. written while in Cuba, as a representative of the Cuban De Legation. Untranslated letter to his wife in New York, regarding matters of finances and traveling. Capablanca did start a comeback to playing chess in this period from 1934-1938. In very good to fine condition.
