1876 Boston Base Ball Association Stock Certificate

1876 Boston Base Ball Association Stock Certificate. Fully executed stock certificate for Harry Wright's Boston Red Caps was issued to Henry Lunt in the amount of 1 share. Though the team had existed since 1871 within the National Association, the 1876 date of issue pins this certificate to the very first season of the National League, which the Red Caps joined upon the dissolution of the former. The certificate is signed by the team's treasurer Fred Long and president N.T. Apollonio at bottom. Dimensions 5x8.5". A remarkable relic from the inaugural season of the modern Major Leagues.

Henry Lunt was on the board of directors of the association and in 1876 resigned to let Harry Wright take his place.
