Presidential appointment document signed by Grover Cleveland as President, dated January 3, 1895, in Washington, D.C. This partly printed document appoints Harry Hall as Postmaster at Catskill, Greene County, New York, and is also countersigned by Postmaster General Wilson Bissell. The vellum document retains its original seal, which remains largely intact with traces of the original red ribbon still present. Both signatures are executed boldly in black ink. Some general toning is visible along with minor separation at the folds and small areas of loss that do not affect the text. Light seal transfer overlays part of Cleveland’s signature but with minimal effect. The document measures 15" x 20" and is presented in an elegant red mat and gold-toned frame measuring 20" x 25".

Grover Cleveland (March 18, 1837 – June 24, 1908) was an American lawyer and politician who served as the 22nd and 24th president of the United States from 1885 to 1889 and from 1893 to 1897. He won the popular vote for three presidential elections—in 1884, 1888, and 1892—and was one of two Democrats (followed by Woodrow Wilson in 1912) to be elected president during the era of Republican presidential domination dating from 1861 to 1933.
