Dated June 10, 1926, this scarce naval commission is boldly signed by President Calvin Coolidge. Issued to Frederick G. Pyne, the document appoints him as a Pay Director in the Navy with the rank of Captain. It features beautifully engraved maritime imagery at both top and bottom — including a spread-winged eagle and a dramatic Neptune vignette with chariots, flags, and cannon.
The document is countersigned by Secretary of the Navy Curtis D. Wilbur and bears a vivid dark blue embossed Navy seal. Naval commissions signed by Coolidge are significantly less common than consular or notary appointments.
The vellum document measures 14.75" x 19.25" and is professionally presented with dark matting, for an overall framed size of 20.5" x 24.75". The condition is exceptionally clean, with strong contrast and an elegant display presence.
