U. S. Grant Appointment

Ulysses S. Grant signed Presidential appointment, 1p, 12" x 15.5", Washington, April 19, 1876, an appointment for Postmaster of Carson City. Boldly signed “U.S. Grant” as President and countersigned by Postmaster General Marshall Jewell. The document features an engraved American eagle vignette beneath "ULYSSES S. GRANT" at top and retains the gold embossed seal of the Post Office Department at lower left. Framed to an overall size of 20.5" x 24.25" with archival matting and a warm wood frame. Expected intersecting folds with minor toning and light soiling, else very well preserved.
