Dwight D. Eisenhower signed diplomatic appointment document, naming George Wadsworth of New York as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Dated January 26, 1957, during Eisenhower’s second term, the document bears the President’s bold ink signature at lower right and that of Acting Secretary of State Walter Bedell Smith. The document features the embossed Great Seal of the United States. Professionally matted and framed to 21" x 25", with the document itself measuring 16" x 20".
Dwight D. Eisenhower (October 14, 1890 – March 28, 1969) was an American military officer and statesman who served as the 34th president of the United States from 1953 to 1961. During World War II, he served as Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force in Europe and achieved the five-star rank of General of the Army. He planned and supervised the invasion of North Africa in Operation Torch in 1942–1943, as well as the invasion of Normandy (D-Day) from the Western Front in 1944–1945.
