Millard Filmore Appointment

Millard Fillmore, as President, signed naval appointment document dated June 9, 1852, appointing R. Randolph Breese as a "Passed Midshipman in the Navy of the United States." A handsome partly-printed document on 1 page, folio vellum, countersigned by William A. Graham as Secretary of the Navy. The document features an elaborate engraved naval vignette at the bottom and retains the large embossed paper seal of the Navy Department. Light toning, minor fold creases, and slight loss at one fold intersection, but overall very good condition. The document measures approximately 13" x 15.5" and is presented in a vintage gold frame to an overall size of about 17.5" x 20.5".
