A poignant early American relic commemorating the death of William Henry Harrison, the ninth President of the United States. The piece is a black mourning silk ribbon, measuring approximately 3 by 7 inches, featuring a bust portrait of Harrison along with his birth and death dates. Below the image is his final quote: "Sir—I wish you to understand the true Principle of the Government. I wish them carried out. I ask nothing more."

This rare ribbon dates to 1841, following Harrison’s historic one-month presidency—the shortest in U.S. history—and his sudden death from pneumonia. The ribbon retains its original fringe at top and bottom. Some foxing is present, but overall condition remains very good.

A striking and uncommon tribute to the first U.S. president to die in office, capturing the somber national mood of the time and reflecting early American political mourning culture.
