William T. Sherman ALS

William T. Sherman autograph letter signed, 1 page, 5.25" x 8", Headquarters Military Division of the Missouri, Saint Louis, Missouri, November 26, 1867. General Sherman acknowledges a recent letter and responds regarding photographs and a reference to a specific hotel in Fredonia. In part: “I have no photographs with me... The best I know of is about 3 x 4 inches standing.” Boldly signed at the close, “W. T. Sherman, General.” The letter is penned in a crisp hand on lined stationery with bold printed letterhead. Light toning, minor edge wear, and a single small tear at the top right margin, otherwise in very good condition. An excellent postbellum letter from one of the Civil War’s most legendary Union generals.
