A handwritten and signed letter from Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court Samuel Freeman Miller, addressed to J. Appleton Thayer, acknowledging the receipt of an earlier letter. Signed "Samuel F. Miller" at conclusion. In very good condition with only light handling wear and minimal age toning at edges.

At the time of receiving your first letter I had no carte de visite on hand. I send you one taken a few weeks since with my autograph as requested.
I shall be happy to see a copy of your sketch of Oliver ... which you can forward to me at this place until April 1st. Afterwards at Keokuk, Iowa.
