Iva Toguri D’Aquino (July 4, 1916 – September 26, 2006) was an American-born broadcaster in Japan during World War II, later misidentified as “Tokyo Rose.” After the war she was convicted of treason amid intense media pressure, though the case relied on false and coerced testimony. In 1977, she received a full presidential pardon from Gerald R. Ford. Today she is recognized as a symbol of wartime hysteria.
