Henry Cutler AMQS

Autograph letter signed “Henry S. Cutler,” one page, 7.5" x 11", dated August 29, 1870, penned from Christ Church on 5th Avenue, New York City. Cutler writes to a Mr. Cheney, explaining the delay in replying due to summer absence and encloses both a requested photograph and a fugue he composed on the theme “Jerusalem the Golden.” At the bottom of the letter, he includes a two-bar musical quotation in manuscript with lyrics: “Jerusalem the golden, with...” Boldly signed at the close.

A scarce musical autograph by the noted American organist and composer. In very good condition, with light soiling, expected mailing folds, and an “Over” notation at the bottom right.
