A good A.N.S., Ed. Manet, to the recto of his personal printed large oblong 12mo Visiting Card, with his printed name to the centre and address at 77 Rue d’Amsterdam at the base, n.p. (Paris?), 26th December 1879, in French. Manet writes, in full, ‘Bon pour un portrait au pastel’ (Translation: ‘Good for a pastel portrait’). Some very light, minor staining and age wear, otherwise fine condition. 

Édouard Manet (23 January 1832 – 30 April 1883) was a French modernist painter. He was one of the first 19th-century artists to paint modern life, as well as a pivotal figure in the transition from Realism to Impressionism.
