White House dinner invitation group, 1831, consisting of two related pieces addressed to Mr. Boyle, identified as John Boyle, Chief Clerk of the Navy Department. The primary item is an invitation with writing on both sides; one side reads, “The President requests the honor of Mr. Boyle’s company to dinner on Saturday the 4th of June at 5 o’clock,” while the reverse bears the address notation, “Mr. Boyle, Chief Clerk, Navy Dept.” 5" x 7.75".

The second piece is a separate copy beginning “John Boyle has the honor…,” relating to the same dinner engagement. Dated May 29, 1831, during the presidency of Andrew Jackson, with the dinner scheduled for June 4, 1831. With folds, creasing, toning, and minor paper loss. 4.5" x 8"
