ELIPHALET REMINGTON. Partly Printed Check filled out and signed: "E. Remington & Sons", 7x2½. Ilion, 1853 April 2nd. Drawn on the Cashier of Ilion Bank, payable to "E. Cummings" for Twenty Five Dollars.. 83 cents..
Samuel Remington (1819-1892) was one of two sons in the E. Remington and Sons family business that produced firearms (rifles) and typewriters, in Upstate New York’s Mowhawk Valley . Check from Mowhawk Valley and then crossed out and written Ilion Bank. Check form November 6th , 1858 for , twenty dollars and 44 cents, Signed S. Remington. This set of two decorative checks from the Cashier of Ilion Bank each contains a lithographs one with a etching of a blacksmith at work on its far left and the other with a Mowhawk Indian. Both are 7” x 2.5.
