An Erté Exhibit Poster signed by the artist known as Erté from Restaurant Jonathan Dated January 25th to February 17th at Rampart Street, New Orleans Location. Inscribed "to Estelle a fellow lover of art also Erté".
Erte Exhibit Poster Poster 17 x 11", black on silver cardboard, does have a small tear and some other rubing, but in good condition not affecting signature and inscription.
Restaurant Jonathan opened in 1976, designed by late New Orleans architect, Jack Cosner. The site was 714 N Rampart St across from the Louis Armstrong Auditorium.The restaurant was written up in several design magazines as an "art deco palace". It featured stunning 1920's, 1930's antiques and Erte graphics. The 4 Star restaurant was run by Chef Thomas Cowan, the restaurant closed in 1986.
Romain de Tirtoff (23 November 1892 – 21 April 1990) was a Russian-born French artist and designer known by the pseudonym Erté, from the French pronunciation of his initials. He was a 20th-century artist and designer in an array of fields, including fashion, jewellery, graphic arts, costume and set design for film, theater, and opera, and interior decor.
