Carl Spatz TLS. Signed "Carl Spatz" to a William Garden Jr. The letter is dated January 11, 1929, with the letterhead "U.S. Army Refuelling Mission." In the letter, Spatz thanks Garden for his message of congratulation. He goes on to write about the abundance of autograph requests that he receives and his inability to comply with the requests. He finishes the letter by comically signing off with his autograph anyways. In fine condition.
Carl Spaatz (June 28, 1891 – July 14, 1974), nicknamed "Tooey", was an American World War II general. As commander of Strategic Air Forces in Europe in 1944, he successfully pressed for the bombing of the enemy's oil production facilities as a priority over other targets. He became Chief of Staff of the newly formed United States Air Force in 1947.
