Caleb Strong (1745-1819). Massachusetts attorney and political leader during and after the American Revolution; active in the development of the US Constitution. Elected to the inaugural US Senate (1789-1796); twice served as Governor of Massachusetts (1800-1807, 1812-1816).
Military commission signed as Governor of Massachusetts April 14, 1801, confirming Jacob B. Winchester as Captain of the 1st Regiment Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 2nd Division of Massachusetts Militia. Also Signed by John Avery as Secretary. 10 x 16.75 in.,In fine condition
