Original hand-carved woodblock of an American eagle standing with wings spread holding a banner captioned, "Victory" in its beak. Approx 2"x1½", ca. 1830's-40's, together with matching print impression from the block, matted to overall 8 ¼"x11." An exquisite depiction created by Alexander Anderson considered the father of wood engraving in America. Minor separation at edge of banner. Very Good.
