Made by Map Maker: Andrew Millar / John Lodge, from London / 1781 ca. This period hand colored view of the Attack is an engraving by John Lodge based on a drawing by an artist named Mr. Millar. The view was published in Barnard's New Complete & Authentic History of England. The image is the artist's interpretation of the event, from a British point of view, published for a British audience. The Battle of Bunker's Hill, actually conducted at Breed's Hill, resulted in a dearly-bought British victory. Despite losing the battle, and thus control of Boston to the British, the campaign was seen as the first step towards American independence. Size: 11.5 x 6.5 inches
