1915 Ty Cobb Double-Sided Advertising Scorecard. Never used, and for that matter never dispensed by its sponsor, this antique scorecard was intended to spread the good word of clothier "E. B. Franklin [of] Grover, Colo." The piece is printed on card stock and it was intended to be a fold-over that featured "Ty Cobb - King of Ball Players" on the front. In this unissued state, the scorecard measures about 5.5x14", and it is in excellent condition aside from normal handling wear. Along the upper edge of the front and back covers (as it were), there appear vignette portrait photos of the previous season's American League champion Philadelphia Athletics - including Connie Mack, Frank Baker, Eddie Plank, Chief Bender and Eddie Collins. Similarly on the reverse (or internal surfaces) there appear the National League (and World's) Champions Boston Braves, to include Johnny Evers and Rabbit Maranville. This is a nice piece - well preserved - but it also demonstrates a culture of a century past, a time when enthusiasm for Major League baseball reached even the country's remote capillaries of Colorado.
