This document is Signed By the Receiver General Andrew Elliot. The document is The General Account of His Majesty's Quit Rents for the Province of New York. Covers the period from September 29, 1766 until September 29, 1767 and details rents paid by each county on New York lands to the Crown. Payments made on the Kings warrants by the Commissioners of the Treasury are detailed. the counties and cities listed are" For the city and county of New York Borough and county of Westchester For city and county of Albany The county of Ulster The county of Orange From Richmond Couty From Kings County From Queens County From Duchess County The document is signed at the lower right by Receiver General. Condition: There is some toning,one small tear in the top center not touching text that has been repaired and some small nicks and edge tears, otherwise in good condition.
Andrew Elliot (1728 - 1797). Elliot was a Loyalist and served as Lieutenant Governor of New York, Port Customs Collector and Receiver General. During the American Revolution, Elliot was one of the party of three who met with General Washington to plead for the life of British spy John Andre.
